The addition of the glamour dresser alone was a miracle, it being shitty is not a doomsign for the game. I think you're under-estimating how much people care about glamours. A significant portion of the FFXIV players I know (like 75% +) are actively hunting glamours, and also complain about lack of space. Basically, except you don't have to be at the dresser to use a glamour plate - you just have to be in a city (or the Gold Saucer). Also, when you're bringing an item to go in the glamour dresser, check to see whether it can go in the armoire first - that doesn't burn a prism, and you can still use it for plates. The glamour dresser is available in all of the inn rooms and you can put almost anything that doesn't go in the armoire into it. Presently no player housing can have glamour dresser so you have to go back to the inn. Sadly there’s no quick easy way, you’d have to unequip all of it, put each piece in the glamour dresser, add them to a plate, and take them out. You can link a gear set to automatically apply a glamour plate whenever it’s equipped by going to your gear set list, right clicking the gear set, and adding glamour plate link.
